IndyLink users are protected under the following strict privacy policy, approved by IndyLink's Board of Directors:
"As a nonprofit Internet Service Provider, IndyLink respects the privacy of its users and strives to protect that privacy. The Board of Directors, therefore, resolves that IndyLink user information will not be sold, shared, or exchanged with outside parties (except as required by law)."
The board action was taken in response to a growing trend among commercial online services to sell mailing lists and other user-information to advertisers and direct-mail marketing firms, and to track user-destinations and preferences as people navigate the Internet. IndyLink does not employ "user-preference" tracking software, nor does it make any other efforts to track or monitor users' online experience.
